We stayed at this crazy hotel in Khao Yai called the Mission Hills Golf Club and Resort. First of all: what mission? Are we in California suddenly? But what really made this place crazzy was that the construction on it appears to have started at the tail end of the economic boom of the 90s. This era ended in a nasty crash and prolonged recession -- this resort seems to have felt the full impact of the crash. There are about 6 buildings on the grounds, only 2 of which were finished and the rest are half-built in varying states of disrepair. The jungle is pretty much reclaiming whatever it can grab onto which gives the place this other wordly, Apocalypse Now kind of feel.
